For those who haven’t met me yet, my name is Alisha and I live in Terrace, BC.
About five years ago, I started my journey into bodywork — not as a professional, but simply as a horse owner trying to help my mare, Ginger, feel better. She had started hanging out by the barn, away from the herd, which was so unlike her. Her eyes always looked sad, and something just didn’t feel right. I had a few people take a look at her, but it wasn’t until Mike McCaffery came into town that everything changed.
At the time, I didn’t really believe in bodywork. But after just one session, I couldn’t believe the difference in Ginger. Each time Mike returned, she moved better and better. He even started showing me stretches I could do with her myself. That’s really where it all began.
Then came Cleo.
I think most horse owners have had at least one unicorn in their lifetime — that one special horse who changes everything. Cleo pushed me even further into wanting to learn more. I started learning how to do myofascial release on her and took three clinics, devoured books, and eventually made the decision to get certified in equine massage therapy.
It all started with love for my horses. Seeing the difference bodywork can make — not just physically, but emotionally — lit a fire in me. I love building relationships with the horses I work on. There’s nothing quite like the feeling when a horse remembers you, shows you the spots they want worked on, gently wraps their head around you, or leans in for a nuzzle. It's those moments that remind me why I do what I do.
My hope is to keep learning and growing so I can always do my best to help horses feel their best — and to advocate for their comfort and well-being.

Alisha communicates clearly, and is an encouraging, patient teacher. I expressed an interest in learning about massage and she jumped right in to help me out. If you have any concerns or questions about how your horse is feeling in its body, it’s definitely worth having her come do an assessment and see if she can help!
Alisha has worked on both my horses. They really enjoy the experience! My gelding is clearly loosening up in his body thanks to her assistance, and my mare has been so beautifully relaxed and happy when I work with her.
